20x20 inch Oil and Cold Wax on Cradled Wood
$800
Oil and Cold Wax artwork, meticulously created with a palette knife to simulate the heavy, wet snowfall that exerts a powerful pressure on every branch throughout the forest. This piece was inspired by and created from a photograph I personally took of such a breathtaking winter scene.
A Large Amount of Snow
$1000
Oil and Cold Wax artwork, 12x12 inch on cradled wood panel.
Using a palette knife, I applied layers upon layers of oil and wax to create this dreamlike painting. I wanted to capture the rich diversity of ecosystems found during a hike through the Canadian Shield. You can imagine a gentle dusting of snow covering the ground, bathed in the warm glow of a setting sun, while the surrounding silence deepens as nightfall slowly approaches.
Finding the Light
Overgrown forests are untamed, lush ecosystems where nature takes its course without human intervention. Characterized by dense vegetation, towering trees, and a rich diversity of flora and fauna, these forests create a vibrant, self-sustaining habitat. The thick canopy filters sunlight, fostering a mysterious, often shadowy environment below. Overgrown forests serve as vital reservoirs of biodiversity, carbon storage, and natural beauty, embodying the resilience and complexity of the natural world.
I applied many layers of oil and cold wax with a palette knife to capture the depth of these ecosystems. This painting was inspired by our camping trips to Whiteshell Provincial Park.
